Social Commitment and Sponsorships

Located in one of Montreal's deprived industrial neighborhoods, Au Pain Doré, because of the symbolic nature of its main product line (bread), is sensitive to the hunger issue in a country as rich and secure as ours. This fact has given a clear direction to our social commitment. We hope that the actions we have taken over the years meet the expectations of consumers more and more conscious of this issue.

Measures in place:

Awareness campaign in the plant and the stores to reduce waste;
Donations to Moisson Montréal of products that do not meet standards (weight, shape, appearance);
Sponsoring of events and organizations that fight hunger, poverty and homelessness.

Partnership with the Club des petits déjeuners du Québec

Since 2009, Boutiques Au Pain Dorée chose to support Club des petits déjeuners du Québecon an occasional basis. Two fund raising campaigns were organized and they enabled the Boutiques to make a donation of bit more than $15000 between January 1st and December 31st 2010. This amount comes from profit remittance on selected special products (Breakfast Club in 2009 / 2010 and Trio Rentrée in 2010) and also from donations made by generous customers in Au Pain Doré stores.

Environmental Commitment

More and more companies are making responsable, fair and environment-friendly choices. Boulangerie Au Pain Doré Ltd and Boutiques Au Pain Doré Inc. are no exception. Over the years, we have put in place various measures consistent with these choices and we hope to continue to meet the expectations of our eco-conscious clientele.

For a period of 1 year, we tracked a 65% reduction in the use of plastic bags ! Since the implementation of a 5¢ charge for plastic bags on January 1st, 2010, our customers have significantly reduced their usage. When comparing with the same 12 month period in 2009, during which the Boutiques used a bit more than 200,000 bags, in 2010 they used nearly 89000 bags. We held our promise, and donated the profits from the sale of these bags to www.enjeu.qc.ca, totalling $1334.51. We are very proud of having reduced our use of plastic bags by 65%. Please read press release.
